April 30, 2015: There has been a major recall of 9 million pounds of beef and chicken patties from the New York-based Golden Crust Patties.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall, saying it relates to package ingredient labels that don’t mention egg, which the products were found to contain during routine testing. Egg is one of the Top 8 allergens and must be listed by law.
The recalled frozen products will have an expiration date between January 24, 2015 through February 26, 2016. The patties were shipped to distributors, retailers and consumers across the country. When available, FSIS will post the retail distribution list of these products on their website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
So far, no allergic reactions have been reported from products included in the recall.
